    Do you have management experience in the health care or claims industry? Have you managed workers in a call centre environment? Are you familiar with health benefit entitlement and payment practices? If so, consider joining WorkSafeBC as an operations manager in our Health Benefits Unit.


    You’ll manage two teams within Health Care Operations that offer services that support injured workers and health care providers including entitling selected health care benefits, and managing pharmacy benefits. As the manager in this fast-paced, volume-driven department, you will provide leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality, client-focused service and value to all of our internal and external stakeholders.


    What you’ll do:

    As the operations manager, health benefits unit you will:

    • Manage daily operations, including leading and participating in the planning, implementation, and administration of all work activities
    • Lead and motivate a team of 20+ staff
    • Provide leadership, advice, guidance, and direction on policies, business plans, and operational matters
    • Manage and administer the annual operating budget
    • Coordinate the information systems requirements of the department, which includes compiling statistical data and producing reports, based on those statistics required; and developing appropriate databases
    • Hire and orientate employees, assign work to the team to maintain optimum service levels, and mentor and coach employees in career development

    Your experience and educational background:

    • A university degree in business, economics or a health-related field
    • A minimum of three years of management experience in a healthcare or claims environment
    • Proficiency in the use of business intelligence reports and standard MS Office software


    Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
