    Position: Taekwondo Instructor (Taekwondo Master)

    Company: Master Tony Kook’s North Shore Taekwondo Inc. (dba as “Master Tony Kook’s Taekwondo Academies”)

    Salary: $23/hour

    Job Type: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

    Benefits: 2 weeks annual vacation

    Job Location: 3 locations

    North Shore Taekwondo (2900 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, B.C.)

    East Vancouver Taekwondo (1821 Renfrew Street, Vancouver, B.C.)

    West Vancouver Taekwondo (West Vancouver Community Centre, 2121 Marine Drive, West Vancouver BC)

    Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible


    Job Requirements:

    • Must be a minimum of Kukkiwon 4th DAN (official certificate from World Taekwondo Academy and/or DAN card must be provided);
    • Be proficient in World Taekwondo Poomse (Taegeuk 1 - Sipjin);
    • Have an instructors certificate issued by Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo, or National governing body;
    • A demonstrated ability to work independently while interacting professionally with students aged 4-6, 8-13, 14+, seniors, special needs students and working effectively with owner and staff;
    • At least 5 years training experience in Taekwondo;


    Job Description:

    • Identify strength and areas for improvement for any age of athletics and/or masters;
    • Plan, develop and execute training and practice the highest level of Taekwondo components (Basic Movements, Poomse, Sparring, Self Defense, Breaking Techniques);
    • Engage with all ages – both athletics and masters – to nurture and develop skills and talents for highest potential through strong communication skills;
    • Motivate and mentor athletes for competitive events at our Regional, Provincial, and National events;
    • Create workable strategies for success to lead each athlete for next level, during regular training as well as competitive events;
    • Teach our Standardized Curriculum to participants and athletes of all ages;
    • Coach our current staff for advance level Poomse and Sparring moves;
    • Monitor athlete’s activities to ensure safety rules and regulations and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required;
    • Train and supervise 3-5 staffs;
    • To teach Taegeuk Poomse 1 – 8, Koryo, Keumgang, Taebaek, Pyongwon, Sipjin;
    • Assist with owners in developing higher caliber masters with a training plan for grass roots and high performance athletes;
    • Facilitate with parents or caregivers of athletes to encourage and motivate to support athletes.
