    Salary: $18 to $21 hourly for 35 to 40 hours per week

    Education: A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in early childhood education is required; Completion of full-time Montessori education credential of at least six months.

    Job Description:

    Information about the Company:

    Westwood Montessori is a licensed daycare center for children 12 months to 5 years of ages. We aim to provide a safe, nurturing and emotionally, intellectually and socially stimulating environment where children can learn through a combination of open-ended and structured learning activities.

    This position is to work with children Ages: 3 to 5 years of age

    Job Duties:

    -       Prepare and deliver curriculum and activities based on developmentally appropriate practices that helps each child reach his/her fullest potential in all areas of development;

    -       Interact and supervise children at all times, to ensure the safety and welfare of the children and protect each from physical or emotional harm. This includes performing all tasks with an appropriate level of confidentiality;

    -       Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members;

    -       Observe and monitor children for signs of potential learning problem or inappropriate behaviors, prepare reports to supervisor and follow the discipline procedure accordingly;

    -       Maintain an open and professional communication with staff, children and parents at all times;

    -       Work with supervising teacher to continue learning about the philosophy of the Montessori program and further understand the goals of the class and the school;

    -       Help children to work cooperatively in an atmosphere of respect, using models of behavior and intervention;

    -       Provide direct instruction and/or remedial help to children as directed by supervising teacher;

    -       Help prepare the class each morning and maintain order and cleanliness of environment daily;

    -       Prepare and make materials needed and plan activities; assist with field trips;

    -       Report accidents and concerns immediately to the supervisor;

    -       Maintain observation records and other required classroom logs correctly;

    Requirements:

    -       Knowledge of Daycare Services Act

    -       Knowledge of licensing regulations

    -       Early Childhood Educator certificate

    -       Montessori Credential

    -       3 Professional References 

    -       Valid First Aid certificate, CPR Certificate

    -       Satisfactory criminal record check

    -       Immunization status and Medical certification

    -       Effective interpersonal skills

    -       Excellent oral and written communication

    -       Good understanding and commitment to the Montessori philosophy

    -       Enthusiasm in teaching and working with children;

    -       High adaptability;
