NEC Native Education College is a large private Aboriginal college in Vancouver and also works with First Nations and Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. NEC works to strengthen Indigenous communities through accredited programs that lead to employment and higher learning. The Acute Care, HCA program is currently seeking RN Instructors for each the following courses, where both offer students to apply principles of holistic, person-centred care and utilize effective problem solving strategies:
Acute Care - Classroom/Lab Instructor; Contract Dates: Jul 16 to Aug 9, 2019; Schedule: Tuesday to Friday; 10am – 5 pm The Acute Care 100 course introduces the HCA to the unique and defined set of skills and attitudes required to practice within a variety of acute care settings or with acutely ill clients. Students will have the opportunity to build on previously acquired skills and knowledge as an HCA and demonstrate the ability to apply newly acquired theory and perform related skills in the laboratory setting. This course is taught in a modulated format with a focus on topics including a preparatory module, introduction to acute care settings, common health challenges and related skills, delegated tasks, and introduction to speciality areas and their related skills.
Acute Care - Clinical Instructor; Contract Dates: Aug 5 to Aug 30, 2019; Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7am-3pm This supervised clinical practice experience provides students with an opportunity to apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes gained from the theory components in the program with individuals within an acute care setting. Acute Care HCA graduates will be prepared to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills which include recognizing changes in health status, understanding patient treatments and interventions, and developing familiarity with new environments, team members, and necessary equipment. Along with the acute care competencies, students will build on effective strategies for use of interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
