    Job Description

    Full-time teaching position is available in a childcare Centre in North Vancouver. Qualifying applicant must have good communication skills together. Duties include managing program by being a team player.

    The applicant will hold a current ECE license or Infant Toddler license or those working towards completing their Infant Toddler certification that has a passion for working with this age group. Please email your detailed resume together with a cover letter stating your long-term plans.

     

    Position: Early Childhood Educator-IT

    Hours: 40 hours/week

    Employment status: Permanent

    Duties:

    • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
    • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits. Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor, Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act, Knowledge of licensing regulations.
    • Establish guidelines for behavior.
    • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
    • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
    • Plan and implement daily an effective program, incorporating such areas as routine and transition times.
    • Plan and implement appropriate programs for children using observations and documentation of their progress.
    • Notify director/supervisor of program needs.
    • Continually participate as a member of the team with others in the academy, including director, teacher’s aides, substitutes, students, volunteers and parents, respect each individuals ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
    • Ongoing reporting of any information that is relevant to the child’s program

     

    Qualifications:

    -      Completion of ECE certification program is required.

    -      Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, Infant and Toddler Educator Certificate.

    -      Current First Aid certificate and Criminal Record Check are required.

    -      Experience an asset.
