    If you have a passion for healthcare and improving health benefits for First Nations peoples, this is the perfect opportunity for you! As the Co-Op Student with FNHA’s Health Benefits team, you will be involved in a project to develop mental health specialties to improve internal and external access to mental health provider.
    Your main responsibilities will be researching mental health therapies and qualifications required to practice each therapy, collecting information from professional bodies and providers, and assisting in developing policies and standards. You will have the opportunity to attend meetings and build relationships with professional bodies. The student will complete a number of tasks that require the ability to: review and synthesize information, work with quantitative and qualitative data, and produce a variety of reports, tables, briefing notes. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of BC First Nations while gaining exposure in the healthcare industry!
    * Research major types of mental health therapies and qualitifications required to practice each therapy
    * Collect information from professional bodies and providers about mental health specialties, credentialing process, and fee guidelines
    * Research to assist in developing policies and standards for new mental health provider specialties
    * Support the development of an assessment tool to determine if applicants meet minimum registration qualifications for specialties
    * Analyze and update mental health provider registry data for provider specialties
    * Support the development of a search tool to allow clients to find a mental health provider by specialty
    * May compose or participate in the composition of briefing notes, reports, publications, presentations and other documents as required
    * Present research and project development to internal teams
    * Currently enrolled in a Health Information Science or other relevant program
    * Experience in research, interviewing, collecting data, and analysis
    * Experience in writing, note-taking and reporting
    * Experience in developing tools and resources to support decision making
    * Experience in developing policy
    * Experience in developing registry tools
    * Some knowledge in mental health would be an asset
