    Description :

    Mineral Springs Resort is currently looking for a qualified ferryboat operator to operate our yacht. Mineral Spring Resort is a well-established resort located in Salt Spring Island. The operator is expected to operate our yacht at our surrounding coastal waters for sightseeing purposes.

    Title of Position: Ferryboat Operator (NOC 2273)

    Position Available: 1

    Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (30-40 hours/week)

    Wage: $38/hour

    Language required: English

    Location of work: same as business address

     

    Job Duties:

    • Maintain the yacht’s operating status and ensure the yacht is on its best operation performance
    • Perform daily check on the yacht’s instruments and equipment to ensure its functionality, including navigational systems, engine status, etc.
    • Operate the vessel to take passengers for sightseeing activities
    • Plan and inform passengers with safety precautions to ensure the safety of everyone onboard
    • Plan and execute safe navigational passage using navigational system and aids
    • Record vessel ship log for vessel progress, crew member activities, and vessel progress

     

    Qualifications:

    • Completion of secondary school is required
    • Certificate of Competency, issued by Transport Canada or its equivalence, is required
    • Two years of experience for operating a vessel is required
    • Concentration and focus
    • Proven navigational skills
    • Good judgment and problem-solving skills
