    Cabinetmaker’s Helper (7611)

    Location: Abbotsford, BC

    Wages: $19.00/hr for 40 hrs/week

    Position Available: 03

    Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

    Anticipated Start Date: ASAP


    Job Brief:

    Diamond Cabinets is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Cabinetmaker’s helper position who can help skilled tradesperson by performing duties such as using, supplying or holding materials or tools and cleaning work area and equipment.


    Job Duties:


    • Position and Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware
    • Load and unload materials, and move materials and equipment to work sites
    • Erect scaffolding, shoring or braces
    • Assist skilled tradesperson with construct forms and in raising them to the required elevation
    • Smooth or sand surfaces with abrasive materials or tools to remove ridges, tool marks, glue
    • Cut and install insulating or sound absorbing material in building or structures
    • Select tools, equipment or materials from storage and transport items to work site
    • Measure, mark, drill or cut materials or objects for installation or assembly
    • Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job sites
    • May dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative materials such as stain, varnish or paint


    Job Requirements:


    • Language: Basic English is a requirement
    • Minimum Education: Completion of high School is an asset, but not mandatory
    • Experience: Previous helper experience is an asset but not mandatory. On the job training will be provided


    Other Skills:


    • Highly organized and able to multi task effectively
    • Able to work independently and problem solve
    • Ability to read shop drawings and/or blueprints
    • Capable of working with high-speed woodworking machinery
