Under the guidance of the Director, Health Safety & Wellness, you will be the ambassador of wellness strategy and programs across the organization. Your interaction with the employees is key to understanding and fostering a culture of wellness, and respect and value of First Nations traditions, beliefs and values with an emphasis on operating as an efficient, effective and excellent First Nations Health Organization.

    Your extensive experience in planning along with your experience working with First Nations will be an asset to this evolving and unique ‘first of its kind’ health services organization!

    * Under the guidance of the Director, Health, Safety & Wellness, leads the development and implementation of a FNHA Employee Wellness strategy and programs that foster a culture of wellness and the understanding, respect and value of First Nations traditions, beliefs and values; with an emphasis on operating as an efficient, effective and excellent First Nations Health Organization
    * Facilitates the development and design of Trauma Informed Care Training
    * Works as an integral member of the HR team by being a strategic subject matter expert in the employee well-being strategy
    * Plans, develops, and implements specific programs for all FNHA employees aligned with the wellness strategy and the ecosystem of health and wellness
    * Educates employees on proactive health promotion strategies and programs to improve workplace well-being
    * Executes and/or participates in projects and initiatives in support of FNHA strategies. Prepares and delivers presentations and participates in committees, work groups that require wellness perspectives
    * Develops program metrics and tracking tools to assess achievements against program goals and objectives
    * Conducts regular program reviews, and recommends/implements improvements to optimize program success
    * Support the integration of wellness into talent management, and other HR practices, advancing employee and management understanding and engagement
    * Promotes use of Employee Assistance Program
    * Communicates the importance of wellness to employees across FNHA through articles, newsletters, challenges, tip sheets, tools and resources
    * Promotes the creation of Wellness Teams across FNHA
    * Develops and maintains an annual calendar of programs, activities and events
    * Provides incentives from wellness vendors and offers presentations/directory for employees to access vendors
    * Promotes health and wellness through the delivery of workshops, healthy living groups and lifestyle coaching
    * Plans, organizes, coordinates in the development, administration, and evaluation of employee health education and promotion programs
    * Develop, recommend and implement approved strategies, policies and procedures related to wellness and wellness related areas
    * Maintains cooperative working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate healthy living promotion activities
    * Build and maintain effective working relationships with FNHA staff and external partners, including the participation on, and support to, working groups and committees including reporting to relevant Steering Committees and the Senior Executive Team
    * Reviews FNHA policy and procedures and provides recommendations to embrace First Nations traditions and values, and align to FNHA’s culture of wellness
    * Performs other related duties

    * Bachelors degree in public health, kinesiology, exercise management, health education, nursing, social work or related human services field and 4-6 years of relevant work experience, preferably within a health and/or First Nations context, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
    * Training in cultural safety and humility, motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care an asset

    * Significant, recent and relevant experience working in a health field (usually acquired over a 4-6 year period)
    * Experience working with Aboriginal individuals, communities or organizations on issues related to health and wellness
    * Experience planning, implementing and evaluating programs and services
    * Strong organization skills; able to manage shifting priorities and meet deadlines
    * Solid planning skills as they pertain to program development, and project management
    * Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills for a diverse population
    * Strong customer service focus to effectively collaborate in a team environment and able to work independently
    * Solid analytical and attention to detail skills to conduct program assessment, survey development, implementation, data analysis and reporting
    * Proficiency using office productivity software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs, process mapping and webmail
    * Sensitivity to and understanding of key issues and opportunities for British Columbia First Nations
    * Displays initiative, tact, diplomacy, good judgement and use discretion with highly confidential and sensitive employee information
