    Regular Full Time (35 hours/week) (Manager 2)

    Position Summary:

    PCRS requires a regular full-time experienced social services professional to manage integrated youth services for at-risk youth in the Newton area of Surrey.  Working as a team of 2 Managers the Surrey Youth Services managers provide oversite, development and vision to youth services across the City of Surrey, with some programming into South Surrey, Langley and Delta. The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to provide vision and leadership for staff and services for a one-stop youth centre involving a number of partner agencies.  S/he will possess experience and skills in the following areas:  youth housing, emergent issues for youth such as newcomers, gang violence, community integration, community development; networking with government and community services; policy and proposal writing; personnel management; financial and facility management; fund development; supervision and consultation to social work and youth care positions; ability to work with at-risk, marginalized youth, parents and professionals, advisory groups and diverse populations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong partnership development and management skills. 


    This position requires a sound understanding of adolescent growth and development, assessment, counselling methodology, integrative case management, child welfare legislation, staff development, program development, teamwork, contract management and outcomes evaluation.


    The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge base of the Surrey area and needs of the community for youth and family services. 





    Academic and Job Experience Required:

    • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least five (5) years’ experience in a leadership/manager position responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of operational programming related to services.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
    • Demonstrated experience in program management, staff leadership, supervision, fiscal management, and budgeting.


    Basic Requirements:

    • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
    • Use of own vehicle required (Mileage is paid)
    • Driver’s abstract


    Desired Requirements:

    • A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
    • Experience working with the target population.
    • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the social determinants of health, particularly as this relates to education. 
    • Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
    • Experience in asset-based community development and engagement.
    • Effective team building and mentoring skills.
    • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
    • Excellent time management skills: the ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities.

    Salary Range:     $37.44/hour – $44.93/hour, Plus benefit package (100% employer paid)
