    Position: Spirit Way Program Supervisor
    Contract: Full Time Five Days Per Week (August 2019  March 2020)

    The Second-Stage Program supervisor of Spirit Way provides the planning, coordination and overall leadership and administration of Spirit Way Second Stage Program. The supervisor will ensure day-to-day operations of the program are carried out in a professional and efficient manner with attention to confidentiality and in compliance with Helping Spirit Lodge Society's mission statement, goals and objectives, policies and philosophy.

    REPORTS TO: The Executive Director


    • Carry out the purpose and objectives of the Helping Spirit Lodge Society
    • To be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and act in all emergencies
    • To be responsible for the security and control of the building including overseeing access
    • Provide the delivery of holistic educational programs that enhance the lives of the community we serve
    • Maintain a current awareness of developments in assigned areas of responsibility as they relate to second-stage transition programs
    • To provide prompt service to program participants while working within the guiding principles of Helping Spirit Lodge Society.
    • To ensure that the needs of the program participants of Spirit Way Second Stage Program are met in a professional, supportive and caring manner
    • Provide direction to the Spirit Way team in the area of safety and security
    • Provide feedback and support to staff on policies, procedures, techniques or other matters arising in the program.
    • In conjunction with the Executive Director and Accountant, ensures that the program functions within the operating budget for the year and assists the Executive Director in the preparation of the budget with reporting and projected planning of all Spirit Way expenses


    • Completed Post Secondary Degree in relevant discipline
    • Completed Management Certificate
    • Five years experience in social service sector with two years in a supervisory role
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Valid Driver’s License, clean drivers abstract and access to vehicle
    • Criminal Record Check clearance
    • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Experience working with families to identify and access basic needs and resources
    • Knowledge of and experience in the First Nation’s community with a working understanding of history, traditions and community resources
    • Ability to articulate historical trauma
    • Knowledge of the impacts of family violence and its effects on women and children
    • Ability to identify and direct individuals experiencing trauma, mental health substance use, sexual abuse and or homelessness to appropriate resources Expression of interest, including and updated resume and a cover letter describing how you meet or exceed the above noted qualifications must be received by email at or by fax at 604-873-4402
