    Are you a customer service-focused administrative assistant with an interest in human resources? We have opportunities for people to join us in human resources assistant roles to provide a wide variety of confidential support services associated with the recruitment functions of an HR operations team. You’ll connect with internal clients and external applicants to provide information to support our recruitment processes and to generate informative and welcoming experiences for candidates along their application process.


    These positions will be temporary assignments of approximately six months — An opportunity to try a new role, start an HR career, move on after your assignment, or explore avenues to stay.     What you’ll do

    As a human resources assistant you will:

    • Coordinate competition files – finalize candidate lists and ensure correspondence and documents are properly prepared and distributed in accordance with the Collective Agreement and HR policies
    • Administer the testing of applicants – schedule and administer individual or group testing, coordinate the schedules of candidates, managers, rooms, and equipment, prepare test materials, make travel arrangements if necessary, and notify candidates of test results
    • Administer the Relocation Policy to employees who are moving due to success on a competition at a different location by calculating expenses, submitting forms, and following policy to ensure appropriate relocation reimbursement is provided to the employee
    • Respond to employees and external candidates with questions regarding competitions, applications, and entitlements associated with recruitment activities
    • Administer customer reports related to recruitment activities by updating and maintaining data in Excel spreadsheets or retrieving and verifying data using PeopleSoft

    • Reference and interpret policies and procedures correctly, including identifying conflicts and/or inaccuracies and their potential impacts when applying them to complex tasks
    • Communicate clearly, accurately, and tactfully to provide verbal and written information to varied audiences
    • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize tasks in a diverse, high volume environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities


    Your experience and educational background:

    • A minimum of grade 12 (some post-secondary education is preferred)
    • A minimum of two years of office experience in an administrative role, and at least one year of customer service experience
    • Type a minimum of 45 words per minute
    • At least two years of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Proficient office math skills to perform mathematical calculations (e.g., long division, multiplication, percentages)
