    Are you looking for a high impact role that will allow you to make a difference in the lives of First Nations communities in BC? You are an experienced professional with excellent listening and problem solving skills. You are compassionate and have the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships. In this role you will provide support, guidance and capacity building services for the community. You will focus on the development and coordination of community-based services as requested by the partners engaged. You will also work very closely with the leadership team and provide consultation regarding systemic challenges, barriers, anticipated risks and any other related needs expressed by communities or partners.

    1. Serves as part of the Hub based teams to provide overall systems expertise to crisis and traumas, and reports and provides updates regularly with the Project Manager and Mental Health and Wellness Advisor- VI Region, regarding community incidents
    2. Serves as part of an inter-disciplinary team that works closely with community, MH&W Advisor and other FNHA regional staff towards developing capacity building opportunities across all domains within mental health and wellness;
    3. Provides regular updates and consultation to Project Manager regarding capacity needs, anticipated risks, issues and any other related activities or needs expressed by community and partners;
    4. Provides referrals to external agencies, internal services, traditional healers and other culturally relevant resources
    5. Provides advocacy or helps determine appropriate resources for advocacy
    6. Assesses and documents systemic barriers and challenges identified as potential pre-disposing factors related to the incident
    7. Collaborates with First Nation Leadership and Health Leads regarding systemic challenges and barriers
    8. Ensures client/family/community confidentiality and privacy in accordance with professional regulatory guidelines and following standards of practice and legal requirements
    9. Performs other related duties, as assigned

    Education and Experience
    • Master’s degree in Social Work plus 5 to 7 years of recent, related experience in health care setting.
    • Advanced training in threat/risk assessment and/or trauma response Occupational Certification
    • Current registration with BC College of Social Worker as a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW)
    • Current valid B.C. driver’s license and willing to submit a drivers abstract

    • Knowledge of various meeting and coordination modalities
    • Knowledge of assessment and screening tools and modalities in determining suicide and violence risk and threat
    • Knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to First Nations in Canada
    • Knowledge of the importance of critical reflection in practice
    • Familiarity with traditional healing practices, customs, values and traditions of local First Nations
    • Excellent communication skill
