    Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full time.
    Start Date of Employment (Approx.): As soon as possible 

    Wage Rate: $ 23.00 per hour for 40 hours per week. 

    Location: 1601 Venables Street, Vancouver BC V5L 2H1

    Benefits: As per employment standards act. Overtime after 40 hours of work per week, 10 days paid vacations.

    • Completion of Secondary Education
    • Completion of college program in the related field is required OR Several years of on-job training or as furniture helper required.

    Job duties:
    • Examine furniture frames, upholstery, springs, and webbing to locate defects.
    • Fit, install, and secure material on frames, using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, and/or staples.
    • Interweave and fasten strips of webbing to the backs and undersides of furniture, using small hand tools and fasteners.
    • Make, repair, and/or replace automobile upholstery and convertible and vinyl tops, using knowledge of fabric and upholstery methods.
    • Discuss upholstery fabric, color, and style with customers and provide cost estimate for upholstering furniture or other items
    • Layout, measure and cut upholstery materials according to sketches or design specifications
    • Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts using hand and power tools
    • Operate sewing machines or sew upholstery materials by hand to seam cushions and join sections of covering materials
    • Install padding and underlays and fasten covering materials to furniture frames
    • Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons on upholstered items
    • Layout, cut, fabricate and install upholstery in aircrafts, motor vehicles, railway cars, boats, and ships
    • May make upholstery patterns from sketches, customer descriptions or blueprints
    • May install, fabricate, maintain and repair interior components of aircraft, such as seats, coverings, drapes, cargo nets, flooring, closets, bins, and panels.
