Our entrepreneurial environment provides our employees with excellent experiences that enable them to develop their skills through stretch assignments and the opportunity to work with the best talent in the industry. Curtiss-Wright's INDAL facility combines a high level of engineering and manufacturing capability with expertise in the management of large and complex defense programs to produce specific solutions for the world's navies. With over 50 years of experience, we lead in the design and development of ship-borne helicopter handling systems, undersea sensor handling systems and specialized on-deck structures.

The Opportunity | Mechanical Engineer, Mississauga, ON

We are seeking an associate level Mechanical Engineer for our engineering facility in Mississauga, ON.

     The Challenge

    • Engineering support to production of helicopter handling systems used by navies worldwide
    • Interface with customers and suppliers in order to meet program objectives
    • Analyze, recommend and update complex designs while paying high attention to details

     Your Expertise

    • A bachelor's degree is highly desired
    • Registration with PEO is desired.
    • 2+ years of experience in designing hydraulic and electrically driven machinery specifically for shipboard, airborne and submarine environments. Typically this is mechanisms, latches, linkages and basic structures.
    • Experience with drawing standards (military or commercial) and reading engineering drawings
    • Experience with naval or airborne machinery including winches, large projects and their management, as well as government and international customers would be an asset
    • To support current designs you would perform force and motion calculations, mechanical sizing, weight and manufacturability assessments.
    • As with most designs, we used pre-engineer sub-systems from other suppliers, so sizing and select components such as gear boxes, motors, actuators, cylinders etc. will be required.
    • Willingness to travel, then commissioning first off systems overseas as well as supporting marketing efforts are very likely and offer a great chance to learn.
