    Employment Service Centre – Chilliwack

    Term Part-Time (28 hours/Week)

    (October 2017 to June 2018)

     

    Pacific Community Resources Society has been subcontracted to deliver Employment Services to Youth and persons with multiple barriers for the Employment Program of BC. We are seeking a client-centered, results-oriented individual who is passionate about empowering youth and persons with multiple employment barriers to reach their personal and employment goals. The applicant will have experience in employment services, will be familiar with the Employment Program of BC (WorkBC) and have experience making community connections.

     

    Position Summary:

    This is a dual focused position supporting program participants with life skills and job search techniques using curriculum delivered either one to one or in small groups, as well as supporting participants to attach to the labour market by connecting with employers in the community through Job Development services. The Facilitator/Job Developer works closely with the Case Manager to ensure all client needs are addressed. Facilitation and Job Development are the primary focus; however, this position is part of a full range Employment Service Centre, and therefore, adaptability to meet other service needs as they emerge is required.

     

    The applicant will have working knowledge of the BCEA Act and regulations, systems, procedures and continuum of services. Applicants must demonstrate an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills, organization skills and demonstrate accuracy and attention to details. This position requires expertise in understanding of poverty issues, mental health conditions, chronic homelessness and alcohol and drug addiction. Knowledge of community resources in Chilliwack is an asset.

     

    Academic and Job Experience Required:

    Successful applicants will have relevant post-secondary education (diploma or degree) and/or combination of education and work experience.

     

    Basic Requirements:

    • Job Development and employment or life skills facilitation experience
    • Proficiency in MS Office Applications and the use of data bases
    • Ability to work in a performance based system
    • Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector
    • Drivers license and use of own Vehicle (mileage is paid)

     

    Desired Requirements:

    • EPBC experience
    • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certificate
    • Mental health First Aid and /or Suicide Intervention training
    • Career Development practitioner, facilitator and/or Job developer

     

    Salary Range:     $22.74/hour – $25.88/hour, plus benefits
